I received this from Cache Valley Peaceworks today:
The Logan City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to proclaim Sept. 21 as a Day of Peace and urged residents to ‘reflect on the blessings of peace and the true cost of war.’ Mayor Randy Watts also endorsed the proclamation. The proclamation stated, ‘Together, let us affirm the supreme desire in all human beings for a peaceful existence without the horrors of war, and envision the possibility of a peaceful future for all.’ Signed proclamation attached.
September 21 has been established by the United Nations as the International Day of Peace. It is a world-wide effort to have a day of cease-fires in conflict zones and to have peace-minded activities in calmer areas. Several religious communities and citizen groups in Cache Valley will be observing International Day of Peace through prayers, moments of silence, vigils, discussions and special services. See www.loganpeace.org for details.
