I am urging everyone who supports community radio to express their opinion on the following:
I love our local “radio-free” community radio station, KRCL. The program hosts are great (and all volunteer), music just about all day, Democracy Now! is played daily. I’ve been fortunate, too, to be able to record psa’s in their studio for various events.
I was quite dismayed this morning to hear a psa about KRCL’s food drive on December 14th for the Utah Food Bank – in partnership with CHEVRON.
When you go to the page, KRCL Food Drive, their is no mention of Chevron, but the psa clearly connects its partnership with this corporation.
I’ve known for years about Chevron’s human rights abuses in various countries.

I have written a letter to KRCL (pasted below) urging them to not accept support from companies like Chevron. I am publicly urging readers to do the same. Here is the contact info for sending letters:

My letter to KRCL:
Dear KRCL Staff:
First, thank you for running our Listener’s Community Radio Station. What a wonderful
service for our community. I have been listening for 10 years, since my move to Utah.
You have graciously worked with me in creating psa’s for various events and have a
wonderful outreach tool with your online calendar, which I use consistently.
Besides the variety of great music, I also appreciate shows like Radio Active and
Democracy Now!
I am writing to express my concern about the partnership KRCL is promoting with Chevron
for the December 14 food drive. Chevron has under its belt human rights violations and
corrupt practices around the world. I am quite dismayed over KRCL’s “partnership” with
this corporation.
I urge you to read for yourself these few items on Chevron’s corporate domination in the
world and their human rights violations:

Finally, I urge you to please reconsider KRCL’s partnership with corporations that are
under fire for their human rights violation activities.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Deanna “Dee” Taylor
